The Kanpur Zoological Park, also known as Allen Forest Zoo, is located a distance of approximately 7 kilometres from the heart of the city, near to a region called Nawabganj. This zoo, situated in the human-made Allen Forest transports its visitors to a natural retreat with a picturesque landscape, lush vegetation, a beautiful lake, and several rare species of plants and animals. Popular wildlife species found in the park include white tigers, leopards, black bears, grizzly bears, sloths, zebras, rhinoceros, hippopotamus and reptiles such as snakes among others. October to March is the recommended time to visit the zoo.

The zoo featuring a wide display of biodiversity is a conservation project under the control of the Forest Department, State Government of Uttar Pradesh, a government organization.
